21 March is Human Rights Day in South Africa. Many of you may not be aware of what this means but it marks the day in 1960 when what was supposed to be a peaceful protest against apartheid, turned into a massacre as police fired into a crowd of unarmed protesters killing 69 people.

Having grown up for the earlier part of my life in South Africa in a segregated environment,I know what it feels like to be discriminated based purely on the colour of my skin so I am celebrating this day as a I was given the chance to meet people from different parts of the world and learn from them, and I applaud people like the Sharpeville residents back in 1960 and others around the world who have the guts to stand up for what they believe in.
With so much police brutality, racial divide and war in the world it is important on days like this, and every day to remember that we are all humans, and violence is never the solution.Education, peace  love and humanity are some of the most important tools we have

Love and peace
