Youth Day South Africa June 16 ,2017

Youth Day -South Africa

June 16 marks the day many Soweto schoolchildren lost their lives during a peaceful demonstration against the government ruling on teaching the students in Afrikaans. Two students, Hastings Ndlovu and Hector Pieterson were killed by the police during the protest. The below picture became a testimony of the struggle against apartheid.
Youth Day serves as a reminder of the ugliness of apartheid which existed in South Africa and also racism which still exists around the world.

NYC Food Truck Festival 12 March 2017 ,for Blunt Squad TV Show Food Truck Segment

Cuban Hibarito
Interview with Marlyse, co-owner Empanada Sonata

Grand Bazaar NYC hosted the event

Interview with Raphael, Manager of the Mac Truck NYC

The look on my face says it all!

Mac Truck NYC
I visited the NYC Food Truck Festival 12 March 2017, for Blunt Squad TV Show Food Truck Segment.
The event, hosted by Grand Bazaar NYC, featured 12 gourmet food trucks.Thousands braved the freezing NYC weather to stand for hours to sample the food.
We got to interview representatives from 2 of the food trucks, the manager of the Mac Truck, NYC(Raphael) as well as the co-owner of The Empanada Sonata(Marlyse).
Raphael( Mac Truck NYC) showed us great hospitality, even though he was extremely busy serving the customers. They have delicious signature variations of mac & cheese, like buffalo chicken, BBQ pulled pork and bacon/cheeseburger, besides the classic version.YUMMY!!!They get my vote for the best food truck service at the festival!
Marlyse, who is also the lead singer of the band, Betty Rocker, spoke to us about how she and Keith Moran, a firefighter, started the Empanada Sonata which celebrates their mutual passion for food and music They offer a variety of empanadas, you can listen to music while waiting for the tasty treat.I sampled a Cuban Hibarito which is made with ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, pickles,  topped with mojo sauce and instead of using bread they use tostones(fried plantains) which give it an interesting twist. The combination will give you a wonderfully exciting taste experience
